The lid switch won’t turn on

Read the note under the switch. It is usually one of these:

• Login Items approval needed: allow Lidless in System Settings › General › Login Items, then open the panel again.
• Battery below the limit: plug in or lower the limit.
• Mac is hot: try again once it cools down.
• Already set in Terminal: Lidless never takes over a pmset disablesleep 1 you set yourself. Run sudo pmset -a disablesleep 0 first.

Lid mode turned itself off

The battery reached your limit, the Mac got hot, Lidless quit, or the helper restarted. The reason appears under the switch. Each of these is a safety stop.

Check whether sleep is blocked right now

Run pmset -g | grep SleepDisabled in Terminal. 1 means blocked, 0 means normal. If it ever stays at 1 without Lidless, sudo pmset -a disablesleep 0 restores it.

A port’s Quit button is disabled

macOS system processes (such as the AirPlay receiver on port 5000) can’t be ended from Lidless. If a process ignores the first request, the button becomes Force quit. Other users’ processes don’t appear.

A setting didn’t take effect

Finder, Dock and screenshot settings restart those apps to apply. Key repeat applies after logging out, press-and-hold to apps opened afterwards, and .DS_Store settings to drives connected afterwards.

Put everything back

Press Revert all in the panel or the Mac settings window. Every setting returns to its value from before Lidless first changed it, and settings that didn’t exist are deleted. Lid mode ends when you turn the switch off or quit Lidless.

Removing the helper

Choose Remove helper (lid, DNS) in the ⋯ menu. If lid mode is on, it is turned off first. Turning the helper off in System Settings › General › Login Items also restores sleep before it stops.

Entering or moving a license

Open Mac settings… from the panel, paste the key from your receipt under License at the top and click Activate. To move to another Mac, click Deactivate on this Mac first. One license covers up to 3 Macs. For purchase questions, reply to your Lemon Squeezy receipt.

My trial ended

Free tools keep working. Awake with lid closed and changing Mac settings need a license, and Revert all always works. If lid mode was on when the trial ended, you can still turn it off but not back on.
