Online only for licensing
Lidless has no analytics, tracking or ads. It connects to lidless.pages.dev only when you activate a license, about once a week to recheck a purchased one, and when you deactivate it. It sends the license key, a random installation ID the app created and, when rechecking, the activation ID. The service checks these with Lemon Squeezy and returns a signed confirmation; it stores neither license keys nor IP addresses. If you only use the free tools, Lidless connects nowhere.
What the app reads
- Listening ports: the ports opened by your account’s processes, read with
lsofand shown in the panel. Not stored. - Clipboard: while auto-clear is on, only whether the clipboard changed. Never its contents.
- Mac settings: only the settings it shows and can revert.
- Power state: battery level and thermal state, for lid mode’s safety checks.
- .DS_Store cleanup: only files named
.DS_Storeinside a folder you pick.
What it stores
License and trial state live in a private file in your account (~/Library/Application Support/Lidless/License.json). App preferences and the original values of Mac settings you changed are stored in your macOS user account’s app preferences. While lid mode is on, the helper keeps one empty marker file in /Library/Application Support/Lidless for recovery.
System helper
The helper only turns pmset disablesleep on and off and flushes the DNS cache, and it talks only to Lidless signed with the same developer certificate.
